Zumi Rash Dutch artist with an Uzbek background is known for her radical surrealistic paintings. Through her art, Zumi Rash expresses strong ideas about the fragility of our lives and existence. By taking the most fragile and beautiful forms of life from nature and putting them into dangerous situations painter tries to show the conflict between life and death, beauty and ugliness.

Nowadays, many things happen in our society, and life proves its instability. As an artist, Zumi Rash chose a unique language to communicate with her audience and warn them about the danger of nuclear weapons and wars and what kind of impact our destructive decisions can have on nature and not in so far future on ourselves.

Creativity and art began to haunt the painter from an early age. And this is not a coincidence Zumi Rash was born in 1991 into a family of two artists and absorbed their talent and extraordinary vision to the world. She started to paint at the age of 12.  At first, it was just a timid attempt of a teenage girl trying to imitate her parents. Later, in 2007 from her first teacher Anvar Alimdzhanovich Mamadzhanov she received a more profound knowledge of painting.

In 2008 Zumi Rash passed the entrance exams to the Republican Art College named after P.P. Benkov and was admitted to the painting group of Mirzakhmedov Khakim Karimovich. From 2009 to 2011, she also took lessons in the history and theory of fine art, and in 2014 she got a bachelor’s degree diploma in specialty fine and applied arts. Two years later, Zumi Rash graduated from the National Institute of Arts and Design and received a master's diploma in the same specialty as earlier.

In 2019 artist moved to the Netherlands and, with the support of her husband and talented musician Lars Nelissen van Gasselt she began to work on a new series of paintings, “Papillon”. In fine art, Zumi Rash was attracted by Salvador Dali’s surreal world and the abstract forms of Jackson Pollock; therefore, she is trying to find the quintessence of these two movements in her art.
